June 10,2004

D. Larry Crumbley, accounting professor at LSU’s Ourso College of Business Administration, was a featured presenter at the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) Eleventh Annual Valuation Conference in Miami Beach. The conference was held June 2-5, 2004.

Crumbley, a certified forensic accountant, spoke on the topic “Forensic Accounting Techniques.” He serves the NACVA as a member of the organization’s Certified Fraud Deterrence Board. Crumbley is the KPMG Endowed Professor at the Ourso College and is editor of the Journal of Forensic Accounting and Oil, Gas & Energy Quarterly.

While at the conference, Crumbley had the opportunity to meet another featured speaker, Frank W. Abagnale. Abagnale is an expert on fraud, forgery, and embezzlement whose fraud prevention programs are used by more than 14,000 financial institutions, corporations, and law enforcement agencies. Abagnale’s years running from FBI charges of fraud and forgery were brought to the big screen in 2002’s “Catch Me If You Can,” a major motion pictured directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.
